Shawn Eller for Family Court Judge Div. H

Shawn Eller has spent his life serving Louisiana families—both in the courtroom and at home. Raised in Natchitoches and a graduate of Tulane University and Loyola Law School, Shawn built his career in family law with one guiding principle: decisions affecting children should always put their well-being first.

For more than a decade as a Hearing Officer for the 15th Judicial District Court, Shawn has handled thousands of family law cases across Lafayette, Acadia, and Vermilion Parishes. He has helped oversee the distribution of millions in child support, presided over custody and divorce matters, and worked every day with parents navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

In the courtroom, Shawn is known for reminding parents of a simple truth: no one knows their children better than they do. While the law must guide every decision, Shawn believes the best outcomes happen when parents choose cooperation over conflict—putting their children ahead of any personal differences.

That belief isn’t just professional—it’s personal. As a husband, father, and stepfather, Shawn has lived the realities many families face. His experience raising children in a blended family, and later adopting his daughter, has given him a deeper understanding of the long-term impact of the decisions made in family court.

Shawn is running for judge to bring consistency, fairness, and efficiency to the bench. He believes the law should be applied clearly and predictably—and that justice should never be delayed. Above all, he is committed to ensuring that every family who enters the courtroom is treated with respect, and that every decision reflects both the law and the best interests of the children involved.

For Shawn, this work has never just been a job—it’s a calling grounded in family, service, and doing what’s right.
